Meet the Maker

Welcome to my Garop (Sharage?). I hope you like inappropriate humor, dogs who can’t keep their chill, and Tom Petty.

My name is Jessie and I’m the sassy jerk behind The Someday Home. Handmade items from the heart of the Midwest. This little website you see is the result of 30ish years of fighting the patriarchy, endless hours of YouTube videos of old men in their workshops (it’s only weird if you make it weird), an obsession with wood, and just enough blind audacity to think I can build whatever the heck I want.

I’m a semi-autodidact (elitist thesaurus asshole for “self-taught” because I didn’t want to use another hyphen here) woodworker whose love of carpentry was born in her dad’s workshop. When I’m not consuming copious amounts of caffeine (I bleed dark roast) and frolicking in sawdust, I’m dreaming of consuming copious amounts of caffeine and frolicking in sawdust, trying to train my shop assistant Winston to retrieve from the beer fridge, or embarrassing any one of my three children at one of their events.

I’m glad you’re here. Maybe we’ll be friends and I can make something cool for you. Or maybe we’ll be mortal enemies and I can make something cool for you, but I’ll probably spit on it before it’s finished.

Let’s take this relationship to the next level
